Help this feline find his forever home
Published: September 19, 2017
Austin Monthly is proud to announce a partnership with Austin Pets Alive! to help rescued animals get adopted. Each week we’ll be showcasing a different cat or dog with information provided by the nonprofit, so you can get acquainted with the adorable canine or feline before you decide to bring the pet home with you.
Little Cow has a big story to tell. He found himself in a Houston shelter after being separated from his mother at a very young age and long before he was ready. Then he was rescued from the Houston shelter when Hurricane Harvey devastated the city. Now, he’d like to simply lead the happy, carefree life every kitten deserves and he’s raring to get started!
Cow loves laps and being picked up and carried around…his way of soaking up as much loving as he can to make up for lost time. He’s bold and playful too, always ready to high dive into a swirling pile of rambunctious kittens even when he’s the smallest one. He loves to wrestle and play chase with his kitty buddies, much more than playing with toys. But, he does find balls entertaining, and if you create a milk carton pull toy, he’ll go after it with gusto.
Cow isn’t timid about asking for affection. He’ll walk up and lean on you as if to say “Pick me up, please!” If he’s lying down, he’ll pat at you with his paw. Hold him close and he’ll cozily snuggle in with his soft tail wrapped around your arm…tender gratitude doesn’t get any sweeter. He likes to chat with you in his small kitty voice, not a complaining type of meow, just an adorable update on the latest.
Cow hasn’t been around dogs. But, it’s suspected that this fearless survivor could hold his own just fine. He would likely do well with gentle children too, especially if they have laps and welcoming arms to offer. Cow’s tiny size does require him to climb into his litter box, but that doesn’t slow him down a bit. He uses it with skilled expertise. He dutifully scratches on his sisal pole only and doesn’t mind nail trims—it is attention after all.
We see bright and beautiful days ahead for this plucky kitten as he prospers and grows into a full-fledged, spectacular cat. His ideal home would be filled with cuddles, laps, spirited playtime and love. If you’re ready to be his sunshine, he’s more than ready to be yours. Help give Cow his happy ending!
This sweet boy is one of hundreds of cats and kittens that APA! has rescued from the peril of Hurricane Harvey. Most of these kitties are up for adoption and in need of a forever home. That’s why for the month of September, adoption fees will be waived on all APA! cats and kittens. This includes kitties of every age, in foster and at every adoption location. The greatest result of a rescue is the creation of loving relationships. Share in this joy with us and adopt a cat this month!
